Midlife Dating By Jamie Rona
Dating after 40 has its ups and downs, as
many singles find it hard to accept the fact that they still haven't found their significant others after all these
years. Fortunately for them, they are not alone in this journey. There are still many single women who know exactly
what it's like to be single at midlife. Because of this, they will be able to share their ideas with each other as
they embark on this journey called middle age dating.
Contrary to the belief of many, there's not much difference between dating after
40 and dating during the teen years. In fact, the rules are almost the same - it's just that there's almost no room
for mistakes during midlife dating. People, in general, think that since you are old enough and have enough past
experiences, then you should be perfect during a date. The sad fact about this is that even older people have their
doubts and insecurities sometimes. Some of them also mess up every opportunity because they have spent so much of
their time being single already that they do no remember the proper etiquette when dating.
If you are one of those people who want to embark on the midlife dating life but
are worrying that you might screw up your (probably) last chance to get a serious relationship, here are some tips
and guidelines which will help you along the way:
Use good manners - No matter how disappointed you are with your date, do not
embarrass them or be rude to them. If you use good manners, then no matter what happens, you won't feel bad about
yourself. This will also help you get another date if word goes around that you are a trustworthy
person.
Do not dwell on your failures - Remember that when dating after 40, you will
encounter people whom you will like but will not like you back. Do not dwell so much on the rejections because
everyone is experiencing them. Stay true to yourself and to the people around you.
Get a good idea of what you really want - During this stage, you must have already
done several achievements so you do not have to elaborate on other relationship aspects. If you really want the
person and can imagine yourself being with him/her for a long time, then take the risk.
Maintain your optimism - At the end of the day, you may be able to find yourself
finally settling down with a new partner as you have reaped the fruits of dating after 40.
Dating after 40 doesn't need to be an overwhelming prospect. Keep it fun, know
what you want, and most of all be yourself.
